Directed by Georges Méliès.

A trip to the Moon shows us the imagination of people in the early 20th century about the moon - an indispensable part of the vast universe. The film is inspired by fantasy and mythology. The image has many decorative details in Rococo and Industrial Art styles. Especially, the elaborately painted theatrical backgrounds, was based on detailed sketches by Méliès, which he re-created in 1930 at the request of the film archivist Henri Langlois. This was one of the first films to use multiple special effects and assembly techniques to create unique images. Space scenes and moonlight contribute to creating a beautiful magical world.
